styling a sweater dress

This sweater dress that I thrifted is my go-to outfit this winter! It's comfortable and so very versatile! I have worn it with colored (as well as plain or patterned!) tights, various scarves, and several different pairs of boots! I love how throwing on this jacket (shown above left) completely changes the look as well!

outfit details:
smoky gray sweater dress: thrifted! jacket & patterned tights: JCP, purse: 'Call it Spring',  jewelry: some were gifted to me, some are from JCP, scarf: Target, black leather boots: REPORT footwear, bought at Dillard's, sunglasses: Cato several years back

Happy Thrifted Thursday!

...and that's christmas 2011!

We had a very merry Christmas this year! Although I sorely missed going to the big Christmas celebration on my dad's side of the family due to work obligations, I was so grateful that my parents were able to visit us a couple of weekends ago for an early Christmas celebration! We walked amongst the pretty lights on Harding University's campus (see TC's pictures of the lights here and here), took family pictures in the university's decked out hotel lobby, enjoyed yummy food, ate too many desserts (of course!), shared our gifts with one another, and just enjoyed each others' company! I also baked my very first pecan pie! :) Now that Christmas is over I feel a little deflated, everything seems so drab compared to the bright Christmas lights, the red, green, gold, and silver decorations, and the smiles and "Merry Christmas" wishes we receive from complete this just me or does everyone feel this way after Christmas?...this is also why my tree is still up...the pretty lights are so warm and cozy that I'm just not ready to take them down! TC and I are pretty excited about our upcoming trip to visit his parents in Atlanta! We have big plans to visit the aquarium and World of Coke! I'm sure this will ward off my post-christmas blues! ;)

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and enjoyed time spent with family and friends!

merry christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone! TC and I are going to enjoy this day by watching christmas movies, eating yummy food and a few too many desserts, sharing our gifts, and celebrating the birth of Jesus! My family came to visit last weekend so we had an early christmas celebration with them. Today will be just TC and I spending time together..which we haven't had a lot of because I've been working so many hours (thus is life in the retail world during holiday shopping season!) Unfortunately, we won't be able to attend the big Moore shindig in my home-state of IL with the rest of my extended family...and oh are there a lot of us! Miss you all!

I hope everyone has a safe and joyful day filled with family and friends! :)

leopard wild cat and coral!

Thrifted thursday, and how I wore this awesome coral skirt (thrifted). Yes! It makes me so happy! TC snapped these pictures of me...while I felt like a fashion model incredibly awkward strutting around our apartment complex parking lot! :) This explains my strained smile and the not-so-scenic background..sorry! I was in a hurry to go return my rented text books semester is over!! Whoo hoo! :)
Happy Thrifted Thursday!

simple and stylish tunic style dress (a tutorial)

I found 3.5 yards of pretty black and white flowered fabric at the thrift store for just $3.50 and couldn't wait to sew something up! I made this simple tunic style dress! It just took a couple of hours and it sure is easy to style...add some colored tights, a belt to cinch in the waist, and a sweater and you're set!

Would you like to make a simple and stylish tunic style dress too? Here's how!
