over the weekend

Mmm...pumpkin spice cookies. This was my first time making this type of cookie but I'll definitely be making them again! It seemed like the perfect sweet treat to make for this time of the year! This weekend was Harding University's homecoming and I didn't even go to any of the festivities (the football game, homecoming musical, etc)...it's kind of sad really...especially since it's my first year as an alumnae and since we still live so close! But, I was busy working and I also had the privilege of going to a friend's wedding in beautiful Eureka Springs, AR. My husband's family was up for a visit with us from Atlanta, GA and since my husband had already committed to spending Saturday with his parents, I ventured off to historic Eureka Springs by myself. It was a beautiful drive, full of rich autumn colors and it's times like these that really put me in awe of God's handiwork! I forgot my camera (of course) so I couldn't document the beautiful wedding and reception, or even some of the scenic drive...but I wouldn't have been able to snap pictures while I was driving anyway....that wouldn't be safe now would it! :)

diy bracelet holder

Crystal Light drink mixes are a favorite in our house..and the containers that they come in are such a
cute shape! After we finished off the last of the drink mix (ruby red grapefruit is my favorite!), I decided to make something using the empty container; and pretty bracelet holders were a must since my jewelry has gotten rather disorganized as of late. I actually made two since I had another empty container lying around!

Would you like to make one (or two) bracelet holders?! :) Here's what I did..

soup for a rainy day...or any day

it's been rainy and cool all day today...a perfect excuse to make soup in my opinion! I made spicy chicken bean soup (a recipe I got from my mom) and it's so delicious, I just had to share! It's super easy-peasy too! It's a little bit spicy and a lot yummy!

we went to a corn maze

To enjoy this beautiful weather, my husband and I spent some time outside today...in a corn maze! Peebles Farm, in nearby Augusta, AR has an amazing corn maze every year in September and October. This year the corn maze design featured a man on a tractor...pretty neat! It only took us two hours of aimless wandering around exploring to find the exit! :) The farm also hosts a wealth of other activities to enjoy, including a petting zoo, picking cotton, going on a hayride, or purchasing pretty pumpkins and gourds!

towel bibs

My cousin is having a baby boy! For her baby shower gift I made these towel bibs. Towel bibs are great because they are absorbent, big, and can't be easily ripped off by the child. They're bibs that kids can grow into!

making mom's chili

Ahh...it's chili season! Even though the weather is still a bit warm here, I decided that I would go ahead and make chili! It's definitely one of my favorite things about fall and winter weather! My all time favorite chili recipe is my mom's..and I suspect it will always be. Her chili is not terribly spicy and it's just a little bit sweet. It doesn't have chili beans in it like a lot of chili recipes, but instead uses dark red kidney beans...YUM!
