a simple blouse makeover

Making alterations on thrift store purchases is one of my favorite things to do, but when it comes to purchasing ready-to-wear garments I like them to fit...and fit well! What I don't like to do is spend a bunch of money on something that I'm just going to have alter! However, I made an exception when it came to this cream blouse! It was on clearance for super cheap, and I loved everything about it (the color, the bow, the sheer-y fabric)...except for the awful band of shirring at the hem! Ah! It. looked. awful! Especially from the side...what is with that weird droopy section?! So, I figured the band would be easy enough to chop off and sew a narrow hem in its place...and I can't believe how much better it makes the blouse look! Especially with this camel colored belt! Happiness!

shirred lace scarf

I found some lace fabric at the thrift store for $1.50 a while ago! It's really soft, and not at all scratchy like a lot of lace is. I decided that it would make a fun scarf...and I think I even have enough left over to make a shirt! Would you like to make a simple shirred scarf too?! Here's how!

chunky knit sweater + sateen skirt

this camel grandpa sweater, thrifted black sateen skirt, and blush colored blouse is what I wore to the Georgia aquarium in Atlanta. It was a beautiful, sunny day...perfect weather to be out and about! Pairing a sweater with a skirt is a common clothing combination I make! Easy, cute and comfortable! how about that?! ;) happy thrifted thursday!

Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta trip pt. 2

In addition to touring the World of Coca-Cola when we were in Atlanta last week (read about it here), my husband and I also visited the Georgia Aquarium! This aquarium is the largest aquarium in the world! Wow! Dolphins, bonnet head sharks (I petted one!), sting rays, manta rays, creepy electric eels, an albino alligator, a beautiful beluga whale --baaaaby beluga...ah that song takes me back to elementary school music class :), huge crabs, jelly fish, and sea nettles were just a few of the amazing animals that we got to see! Before our visit to the aquarium, we ate lunch at Five Guys Burgers and Fries for the first time ever...so good! :)

Thanks Georgia Aquarium for offering a unique aquatic experience! :)

World of Coca-Cola, Atlanta trip pt. 1

Last week my husband and I took a road trip to visit his family in Atlanta. The views of the smoky mountains made our drive a scenic one! It was a wonderful week--family time, relaxation, and touring the World of Coca-Cola and the Georgia Aquarium! (stay tuned for an aquarium post later) TC's sister joined us in touring the world of coke after we lunched at the CNN center, which was bustling with activity! The Word of Coca-Cola, in the heart of Atlanta, was very interactive and fun...and because Diet Coke is one of my all-time favorite soft drinks I found the tour particularly interesting! We tasted coke products from all around the world, but I have to say...I'm still partial to the flavors of North America! ;) TC took most of these photos..and I had a hard time narrowing down which ones to post!...so consider yourself warned, this post is picture aplenty! ;)

We thoroughly enjoyed our little trip to the World of Coca-Cola! :) Do you enjoy coca-cola products? What kind of soda is your favorite?!
